Corrin Skalbeck

Corrin Skalbeck is the official adopt-a-pet ambassador for the BCSPCA on the TV show, Happy Tails. Her motivation behind getting involved with Happy Tails was simple, she wanted to educate and promote pet adoption in Vancouver. Helping find forever homes for all animals at the BCSPCA has become a truly rewarding experience for Corrin. 

Growing up in Cultus Lake Chilliwack, Corrin's family home was filled with pets; her deep rooted affection for animals was instilled at a young age. Corrin's passion, drive and overall zest for life has taken her to many interesting and exotic places around the globe. After traveling the world for five years she returned to her home and native land and purchased an apartment in Vancouver's westend neighborhood.

In between volunteering her time writing, hosting and producing Happy Tails, Corrin is a full-time student finishing her broadcast journalism diploma at BCIT. Weekends are usually spent working on documentary film making projects, researching story ideas and skiing on the local North Shore Mountains.

What city do you live in and what do you love most about that city?
What I love most about Vancouver is the city's cultural diversity. The city provides the ability to feel like you've traveled to far away lands without ever leaving the city limits: visit Italy for an afternoon on Commercial Drive, step back in time and stroll through the streets of Chinatown, adopt a laid back southern California attitude while you cruise Kits Beach.

Describe an ideal lazy afternoon.
An ideal lazy Saturday afternoon (as if such a thing exists), would be spent sleeping in, going out for brunch with friends, then heading down to the beach with a copy of National Geographic in hand while rocking out to some classic 70's music - a little Led Zeppelin doesn't go astray!

What book are you reading right now?
Currently I am reading Farewell to the King by Pierre Schoendoeffern. The story is about an officer of the British Army, sent to Borneo to train the tribesmen to wage war against the Japanese.

What are you words to live by?
Be positive. Dream big. Adopt a pet from the BCSPCA :)
