We Fell for Fall
There is so much that we love about Fall - the crisp air, breaking out the flannel sheets, the beautiful scenery, pumpkin flavoured everything, scarves, homeade soup, boots...the list is endless! Of course Fall fashion is what we always look forward to most. This season, we are falling hard for cozy knits (layered over a pop of colour), prints (stripes, tribal and animal to name a few) and neon accents (flecked throughout the fabric or on a zipper for example). We hope that you are feeling the Love for Fall as much as we are!

Berry Delicious Oatmeal
Make this oatmeal with yogurt overnight in your fridge! This looks like a delicious hearty breakfast and it's served cold, so a great way to get your oatmeal fix in the warm summer months. The recipe and photo are from this site.
Overnight Fridge Berry Oatmeal
3 cups Old Fashioned Oats
2 cups Vanilla Yogurt (I prefer vanilla, but you could use any flavor)
1-2 cups frozen mixed berries
1/2 cup apple juice (apple juice is more subtle, but you can use any juice you like)
Optional mix-ins: 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1 Tbls. ground flaxseed.
Mix all ingredients in medium sized tupperware container with lid. Keep in the fridge overnight. Top oatmeal with a drizzle of honey, cinnamon, granola, roasted nuts, or coconut. Serve cold.

On the Road with Kamie

Hey you all,
I am sorry that I have not been posting in so long, life goes so fast. I am back in Quebec after an amazing year in Colorado. I would like to share with you some of my favorite picture of my trip back home. I have the chance to have an amazing boyfriend who flew to Colorado to do a little road trip. We basically did 5000km in 2 weeks! That’s a lotttttttt of road, but it totally worth it. We had the chance to visit Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California. The most amazing things we saw were Monument Valley, Grand Canyon and simply all California. Here are some pictures.

Being a sucker for great foodtography, we've pinned some tasty looking treats, but we've yet to try them out. This Sweet Potato Veggie Burger with avacado looks amazing and sounds pretty healthy too! Kamie Snowboarding at Eldora
I am back in Colorado for my second semester at the University of Northern Colorado.
Americans treat me well, so do the mountains.
This weekend, I went with a couple of other International Students to the closest mountain from our University, Eldora.
I was so excited to try on my new Orb gear and absolutely delighted of their technicality.

Orb Rider Kamie at the Festival d'été de Québec
Festival d'été de Québec - Week 1
Last Thursday, the Festival d'été de Québec 2011 started. For two weeks, the entire city looks like a huge party where thousand of artists come to perform. We had the chance to see, on Friday, Stephen Marley and Ben Harper. I really appreciated Stephen Marley who gave a great show (interpreting some of the biggest hits of his father). On Saturday, Sir. Elton John performed in front of one of the most impressive crowds I've ever seen. He looked happy to be in Quebec City and played well. Sunday, we had a really great show (my favorite since the beginning). It all started with Cage the Elephant who were literary crazy on stage and who animated the crowd. After, Girl Talk made the crowd scream and dance! To close the evening, The Black Keys gave a great performance.
Festival d'été de Québec - Week 2
This week, the city still vibrated to the sound of other amazing artists. Two extremely big shows were taking place last weekend. On Saturday, Metallica was in town and, as they announce it, more than 115 000 crazy people were there. Sunday, one of my idols performed on the main stage: JOHN FOGERTY (ex-CCR). He gave an amazing show through the unstoppable rain, huge lightning and thunder. It was simply magic and the crowd was hypnotized by his energy (he even came back 4 times after his show because the crowd wouldn't stop yelling!) We definitively made the most it.

An amazing weekend with Orb at Kits Days!
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped us celebrate Kits Days on West 4th on Saturday. It was an amazing time filled with sunshine, music, candy, balloons and of course, fashion! We can't wait for next year : )

Orb Rider Angelisa: Diggas with Attitude
"The last week of June and first 2 weeks of July I've been busy volunteering for Dave Murray Camp with the Katal air bag. If you haven't heard of Katal please check out their website here. I really wanted to hit the air bag this summer but spent most of my days shoveling and digging to shape up the jumps for the little shredders which in the end was a very good and rewarding feeling. If you have a chance to hit up the Glacier on Blackcomb I suggest you do so, the snow is slushy and the sun is hot, the best time to shred your little heart out in an orb tee!"

Update on Orb Girl Denaye
A big shout out to Orb Girl, Denaye Giroux, who was crowned the Women’s National West Motocross champion in June! Competing in Kamloops, Nanaimo and Calgary, Denyae came in first overall and we couldn't be more proud : ) GO DENAYE!

Orb Rider Kamie at Woodstock en Beauce!
For a couple of years (1994) Woodstock is a legendary weekend for people of all age who want to party and have fun with thousand of people just like them. The concept for the event comes from the original Woodstock that took place in NYC in 1969.
An hour drive from Québec and there we were for an amazing weekend. Everybody's brought their tents and camping apparel to crash there all weekend long.
On Friday (which was a holiday because of Canada Day) we had the chance to see Dance Laury Dance, Les Cowboys Fringants, Godsmack, Grimskunk...
On Saturday we layed down under the extremely powerful sun and catch the biggest sunburn ever!
At night, we went to the shows that were still amazing: Pat Benatar, Weezer, Steve Hill...
We enjoyed our long weekend to the fullest and make the most of it.
In the photos, you can see me on the road making (again and again) some bracelets and the other one shows our sketchy setting to try to have a bit of shade.

Sweet Tooth Craving of the Week
Having friends over for game 7 tonight?
Why not whip up one of these sweet Strawberry Explosion cakes! Besides looking absolutely delicious, it's oh so Canadian with it's red and white design. GO CANUCKS GO!

Ingredients
Makes a 9×13″
280g sugar
12 egg whites
12 egg yolks
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
100g butter (approx. 1 stick)
500g cream cheese (approx 2 1/8 bars)
200 ml milk (I used 2%)
120g cake flour
40g cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
1. Cube the butter and cream cheese. Add to a saucepan with the milk and place over medium heat, stirring constantly until the butter and cream cheese are melted. Allow this to cool before adding in the egg yolks, one at a time. At this point, preheat the oven to 375F or 160C.
2. Sift the cake flour and cornstarch together over the cream cheese mixture in 3 additions, stirring well after each.
3. Add the cream of tartar to the egg whites and whip on medium speed, gradually pouring in the sugar. When the sugar has been added, turn the speed to high and whip until soft peaks form.
4. Gently fold the egg white mixture into the cream cheese mixture until incorporated. (Check for streaks!)
5. Line a 9×13″ springform (or regular) pan with parchment paper and pour the mixture in.
6. Place your water bath* on the bottom rack of the oven and slide your cheesecake on the top rack.
7. Bake for about 1 hour (you may need more or less time depending on your oven) or until golden and set.
Note: Do not immediately remove the cheesecake. Let the cheesecake stand in the oven with the door ajar for about an hour. This will help prevent cracks and such. Also, I made this the night before, and after letting it sit covered and refrigerated overnight, it was easier to handle.
*I boil water for the water bath as the batter is being made so that there is a sufficient amount of steam circulating throughout the oven.
