Our favourite moccasin rockin' Orb Sales Rep, Lauren, weighs in on the fashion trends she spotted while at Coachella:

FASHION MUST HAVES...
ROMPERS! ROMPERS! ROMPERS! my Orb "Trixie" romper was the greatest piece of clothing I could have brought. Fashionable and lightweight, it did the trick on those long hot days in the middle of a sweaty crowd all singing and clapping along to your favorite tunes.
Denim shorts! The more roughed up and bleached out the better!
Lace... pair a sweet lace cami with a pair of busted up denim shorts and your favorite chucks and you're good to go for the day
Florals! I wore my Orb "Sharona" top with some busted on denim shorts, and when the night got cooler added on a vintage flannel shirt
Crochet tops/dresses/shorts... EVERYTHING! If you're heading to a festival be sure to pack some form of crochet'd wear.
Sportswear mixed with feminine touches... pair some spandex bicycle shorts with a crochet or floral cami and you have a great outfit style.
Headwear! Whether it's feathers, bandana's or hats you gotta have something on your noggin
Ethnic inspirations...tap into your true north roots and grab some moccasins, feathers or beading to accent any outfit... be sure to check out the great beading details and earthly crystal washes in the Orb Spring 2011 collection
Easy breezy! Wether it was a skirt.. a top... or a dress, what ever you had on had to be light and breezy! The perfect fabric from Orb for the 100+ weather was the slub modal! My favorite color in it is the Cantaloupe (it looks amazing with denim & Arizona ice tea!)
Vintage tees or cropped tees with high waisted shorts
Military boots! Moccasins! Or chucks!
Leg appeal! Pair some sheer tights or knee highs with garters and some denim
Fun colors! neons.. pastels.. mix & match to your hearts delight! Cantaloupe..Mint…Purple.. Citron!

Sky's the limit! test your fashion boundaries!

Lauren does Coachella

Our Sales Rep, Lauren was lucky enough to go to Coachella in California! Here she shares some of her adventure with us:

Mix together amazing tunes by phenomal preformers, hot & sunny weather, ice cold beers, FASHION and you get... COACHELLA 2011!

This year I had the amazing opportunity to head down to Indio, California to check out one of the worlds greatest festivals, and it did not disapoint! Here are some of the highlights! Stay tuned for some Coachella Fashion trendspotting...

MY HIGHLIGHTS:
Seeing freaking SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY!
Mumford & Sons played an amazing set on the main Coachella stage, if you ever get to see them live DO IT!
Creating a mega-person with a very friendly gentleman who let me get on his shoulders during the beginning of Kanye West (who did pretty much a full concert... 2 1/2 hours long... 20ish professional dancers...and all of his hits including Through the Wire!
Cold War Kids! if you have not heard of them.. download.. NOW! They absolutely killed it on the Outdoor Theatre.
Chemical Brothers... even though they had an extremely scary clown face, it's the Chemical Brothers and they do not disapoint
Discovering new bands! .. I discovered The Morning Benders when walking by the Gobi Tent -- check out "Excuse" by them for one of the perfect summer time chill out songs
Damian Marley! He even played some of his amazing fathers greatest hits... definitely set a great mood while chilling in the Heinekin Beer Gardens
Death from Above... it's been about 5 or more years since they played a show... they were epic.
Amazing light & art installations all over the grounds kept you in constant entertainment... especially the giant Spider and Dragonfly!
The Drums! They were super fun and high energy.. the entire crowd was dancing and it was totally contagious!
Tame Impala... this Aussie band defnitely got me hooked, especially on their single "Solitude is Bliss"... sometimes the lead singer sounds eerily like John Lennon which makes you love them even more!
Rural Alberta Advantage.... their Canadian, what more do I need to say?!
Arcade Fire, they proved why they took home album of the year
Crystal Castles! Watching her is more entertainment then you'll need in one night.
Balloons! I know it sounds cheesy but let me explain... there were mile long balloons being controlled by people all over the grounds, the shapes would change and at night they would light up! They add a little something extra to all pictures, and really gave a carefree fun-ness to the festival
People pro-pelled rides! Oh yea! Coachella is big time into the green movement even going as far as having people propelled and solar powered rides! There were see-saws... swings... and even a solar/people powered DJ booth!

Easter Craft Inspiration from Sara

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays.  The obvious reason is because of the chocolate, candy, sugar, and all around deliciousness.  In my family, we also have a tradition of getting together and over-consuming a large dinner. But for me growing up, the best thing of all was the Easter Egg Hunt.  I performed some sort of an Easter related treasure hunt up until I moved away from home; my Mom tried to stop the little-kid festivities around the age of 12, but there was no way I was letting her get away with that.  Whenever I’m back at home for the holiday, I make sure to re-live my childhood dream.  Since then however, I have also decided to grow-up a little bit and enjoy the holiday in a more “adult-like” manner.  What does this mean, you ask?

Pretty crafts!

I stumbled upon www.delish.com (an awesome site for anything food, party, or festivity related) during my search for Easter inspiration.  I found my way to a post for “Adorable Ways with Easter Eggs” (http://www.delish.com/entertaining-ideas/holidays/easter/easter-egg-decorations) containing some fun, cute, and very adult-like Easter crafts.  Totally perfect for holiday related get-togethers with family and friends, the site has ideas for place settings, table centerpieces, and decorations.  I’ve never felt so grown-up!

Now the only challenge is testing my handiwork with delicate eggs…

Coffee + Organic Fair Trade Creamers = Perfection

Our lovely intern and guest blogger, Sara, shares some caffeinated, organic wisdom:

Being a full-time student, coffee becomes one of your greatest allies. Over the past two years of my university career, I have not only developed a taste for coffee, but I now have a need for the caffeine-enforced-energy it gives me.

One thing that usually takes the average at-home coffee drinker a while to perfect, is the ideal balance of cream and sugar.  What kind of cream? Milk instead, perhaps? 1 percent or 2 percent? Skim or soy?  And sugar too. A spoonful or a pinch?  Brown or white?  Even after you make these decisions it’s hard to compose that perfect cup of coffee every time you need it.

Well, my fellow coffee lovers and addicts, I have come across the perfect one-step solution to all your mixing troubles: French Vanilla and Hazelnut half-and-half creamers.  Not only do these Organic Valley creamers taste awesome and add the perfect flavouring to your coffee, but they are also certifiably organic.  The creamers are a mixture of whole milk and organic cream meaning that no pesticides, synthetic hormones, or antibiotics are used in the production.  As an extra creamy bonus, the flavouring comes from organic fair trade vanilla and hazelnut, and is only sweetened using fair trade unrefined sugar.

Just in case you’re a little extra picky like me and prefer soy milk, Organic Valley makes soy versions as well. YUM.

I’m no Starbuck’s drink-making magician, but the coffee I’ve been creamin’ lately sure makes me feel like one.

When Shuffle Isn’t Doing the Trick...

Every so often I get tired of my iPod.  Don’t get me wrong - if I was stranded on an island and could only bring three things, my iPod would be one of them.  But every once in a while I put it on shuffle and just keep clicking next.  I feel like I’ve heard it all too many times and get a little bored.

That’s where the magic of music blogs come in.  Here are a few of my favourite go-to places when I’m in need of some fresh tunes:

Visit Stereomood (http://www.stereomood.com/) if you want a playlist tuned perfectly to your emotions.  With everything from “just woke up” to “let’s party”, you’re guaranteed to find music to suit your soul in any state.

For the freshest underground music in all genres, Gorilla vs. Bear (http://www.gorillavsbear.net/) is the place to go.  Based out of Texas, this blog has been recognized by such acclaimed sources like Rolling Stone Magazine and Newsweek.

If you’re in the mood for keeping it in the neighbourhood, Vancouver DJ U-Turn’s blog, One Day Later (http://onedaylater.blogspot.com/), is not only local, but completely original.  U-Turn posts original tracks, mix tapes and remixes.

With contributors from Vancouver, LA, and Madrid, the blog Winnie Cooper (http://winniecooper.net/) is awesome for keeping on top of the coolest and newest dance music.  Perfect for a dance party with your best friends, this blog will keep you groovin’ all night.
