Orb and the Olsen twins!

Mary-Kate, Ashley and Orb?

Lou Lou Magazine thinks so and we have to agree!

Lou Lou’s Winter 2010/11 issue features Orb’s Mademoiselle (OH10-102) wool jacket as one of the key pieces to creating a fabulous Olsen-esque look.

The cropped, draping silhouette of the mademoiselle makes it an amazing layering piece – we love it paired over the white button front shirt and loose fit trousers – tres chic!

Channel your inner Olsen and pick up your own Mademoiselle to add some classic style to your wardrobe!

Orb at the Whistler Film Festival!

Actress Alexandra Staseson, with actor Paul Duchart, strutted the red carpet earlier this month in Whistler looking cute and cozy all decked out in Orb.

Alexandra looked amazing in Orb Outerwear’s Ella jacket (OW10-107P) in Ocean Green Plaid and topped off her look with the Geranium (OF10-40) cable knit pom beanie.

Thanks Alexandra, it looks like you had a blast!

Holiday Style - Bonne Chance!

Bonne Chance (in Blue Smoke), Broome (in Black), Suede Platform Wedges by Jeffrey Campbell, Square Vintage Post Earrings from Urban Outfitters.

Put on the Bonne Chance (OF10-150) sleeveless top and look gorgeous in an instant! The ruffle detail down the front and lovely silky fabric make this top dressy and the long, loose silhouette make it oh so comfy – the best of both worlds!

Pair it with skinny pants and wedge heels or try layering it over leggings and ballet flats. Grab your favourite black bag (we love the Broome’s (OF10-32) gold accents) and head out the door!

For all of those office parties and festive dinners out, our Bonne Chance will be your lucky charm this holiday season.

Holiday Gift DIY

Here's a great DIY stocking stuffer idea to help you finish up your Holiday gift list (it also makes a perfect present add-on to an Orb hoodie or tee for your family or BFFs).  From the drool-worthy Design Sponge, this homemade candle in a vintage tin is adorable, crafty and a great excuse to scour your local thrift shop or flea market to find the perfect festive tin.  Check out the link for the full how-to and pictures.

Fashion Crush: Alexa Chung

It’s hard not to have a fashion crush on Alexa Chung.  She’s an adorable waif of a fashion icon, and even though her current job title of model-tv presenter-celebrity fashion designer-it girl is a bit of a cliché, her raspy English accent, self-depricating sense of humour and amazing girly tom boy style always win us over.  Watch this video from style.com of Alexa touring through her favourite haunts in Williamsburg (that’d be Brooklyn) and talking about what inspires her sense of style.  Beyond charming.  Enjoy! The Orb Northern Light jacket in action!

Amber MacArthur, of Commandn.tv, recently sported the Orb Northern Light jacket on her show. Lookin' good, Amber!

Introducing OneOrb Girl - Louise Choee

Here at Orb we recently launched a program titled OneOrb, our process in this is to identify women that we feel best represent our brand. Orb holds a set of core values that include respecting and supporting the earth, our communities and our customers.  We understand that good things happen in the world when one person lends a hand to make a difference; when one person reaches out to become a role model to others; or when one person speaks up and takes a stand.  It all starts with one person.  OneOrb is Orb’s way of recognizing those empowered, socially conscious, active and aware women who are – each in their own way – making a difference.

INTRODUCING....OneOrb Girl, Louise Choee!

Louise has taken on a very special and ambitious initiative to celebrate her birthday this year. She has taken up the Canadian Mental Health Association's cause of raising funds and awareness for those afflicted with mental health conditions across the nation. We grabbed this info. below off of her fundraising website.

"This past February, someone close to me was diagnosed with mental illness. I've seen what it can do and how it difficult it can be for the people who are affected by it. I wanted to contribute to this cause in my own way. If this helps those who have experienced similar things, then it will have been more worthwhile.

So this year, instead of having amazing dinners, buying me pretty things, or spending all that money on alcohol, I would love for you to donate that money to CMHA instead. Knowing that you support me and believe in my cause will have been the best birthday wish I could've ever asked for."

You can donate to the cause here: http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=1043058&langPref=en-CA

Happy 22nd birthday, Louise!

Style of the Week - This Dress is in the Cards!

Orb Fortune Teller Dress

Fortune Teller (in Grey Plaid), Vintage Pattern by Simplicity, Abby (in Red), Platform Oxford by Dolce Vita.

You won’t need a Fortune Teller (OF10-1303) to tell you that you love this dress! With the warm tweed suiting on the outside and the soft silky poly tank on the inside, the Fortune Teller is an easy choice for the transition from Fall into Winter.

The plaid pattern and flattering cinched waistline are reminiscent of ladylike dresses of the 50's and 60's (Hello, Madmen!). Give it a go with opaque black tights, some oxford style heels (or flats) and an eye catching bag in a colour that pops. We love the bright cherry red of Orb's Abby (OF10-23) bag.

Dress it up, dress it down - give this dress some love : )

Happy Halloween!

The GCD crew loves a good potluck and holiday party, so this past Thursday we decided to get our festivities on and celebrate everyone's favourite super scary, sugar coated holiday, Halloween!   Unfortunately the pumpkin carving contest and apple bobbing didn't quite fit into our lunch hour, but there were definitely costumes and ghoulish treats galore (bloody deviled eggs and a pumpkin shaped cheese ball...yes, we are a creative bunch).

Hopefully our tomfoolery will help you get into the Halloween spirit:

And if you still need a bit more help, then, well, Michael Jackson has something he'd like to talk to you about:
